ESR Digital Annual Report

Crown Research Institute, ESR, commissioned Eden at the end of the calendar year to turn around within a short timeframe a digital impact report generated from ESRs full annual report.

Objectives

• To get more people engaging and reading ESRs annual report.
• Make the annual report more accessible and engaging to all audiences.
• Introduce ESR to a wider audience beyond the scientific community.
• Promote to New Zealand the benefits of ESRs critical involvement in the community.

Approach

As this was a new approach for ESR reporting, Eden worked with ESR to establish which platform would be best suited to their needs. Once this was established, Eden designed and animated the content. The platform enabled for a fast, iterative process and easy sharing of the staging site for team members to review. ESR was also able to directly edit content where they saw fit.

Eden was able to meet the timeframe promptly, enabling ESR to have the impact report live before Christmas. 

Result

A great entry level solution for ESR to test the waters. There has been overwhelming positive feedback from the wider team at ESR, that the digital impact report is an effective visual method for communicating often complex or technical scientific information, and a great way to make this information accessible to a wider audience. 

ESR is now considering how they might market the next digital annual report, and how they can digitise other scientific reports and promote what ESR do to a wider New Zealand public audience.
